NTEE Codes: Comparison of NCCS and IRS Assignments

Sixty-one percent of organizations in our files do NOT have an IRS-assigned NTEE code. Approximately 26% have a code that matches the IRS code at the 3-character level.

Of the organizations coded by NCCS and the IRS, NCCS codes matched IRS codes in approximately two-thirds (65.8%) of the cases.
