Finding Funding Sources

Grants, donations and fees for services are the top three revenue sources for nonprofits. Below are some useful fundraising resources.

Grants

  • For grants, we recommend first visitng the Foundation Center website. They offer a comprehensive list of foundations along with their funding activities.
  • The University of Kansas Community Toolkit provides guidance in applying for a grant and writing a grant proposal.
  • Nonprofit Guides provides grant writing tools for nonprofits.

    • Fundraising

  • Association of Fundraising Professionals provides publications and continuing education programs for members. They also provide a detailed fundraising dictionary.
  • The Corporation for National and Community Service provides a really useful fundraising resource page. Topics include direct mail campaigns, dealing with funding challenges, and building your case for support.
  • A Primer on Online Fundraising goes over the basics of online fundraising and lists several sites that will help you get started.
