Other Expenses on the Form 990: negative values and large amounts (Technical Note)

The vast majority of Forms 990 include entries in the Other Expense category. According to the IRS instructions, values CAN be negative for organizations that use the Management and General column for reporting ALL indirect costs. After these have been itemized in prior lines, they can be netted out of the M&G column and reallocated to the Program or Fundraising columns.
