Some Texts on Marketing for Nonprofits
On Nov. 11, 1997, Roland J. Kushner of the Department of Economics and Business
at Lafayette College, Easton, PA (
KushnerR@lafvax.lafayette.edu) wrote to the
ARNOVA-L mailing list on the subject: Marketing texts:

Many thanks to all of those who responded on- and off-list to my inquiry
regarding marketing texts. I thought it would be helpful to the list to
summarize the responses. I pretty much extracted these from the
messages verbatim rather than verifying the citations. Where more than
one edition of a text was suggested I have included only the most
recent.

Kotler, Kotler/Andreasen, and Lovelock/Weinberg were mentioned most
often.

Though not a text, Mel Moyer's chapter "Marketing for Nonprofit
Managers" in Bob Herman's Handbook of Nonprofit Leadership and
Management
was also suggested. (Order "http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1555426514/internetnonprofi"

The Center for Strategic Communications, a non-profit organization, helps not-for-profit managers understand the process of sharing meaningful information and develop their capacity to communicate effectively in support of mission and programs. See the website at http://csc.org/ and the "7 Step" communications planning process presented there.
